i really hope that if they do go after a true #1 center
it will be johansen or o'reilly before staal, spezza etc..

Couple rosters I came up with. First is our likely roster and available cap space with 2 missing forwards that we can acquire via free agency:
http://www.capgeek.com/armchair-gm/roster/31706
Second is a roster I did for fun in which I traded Brassard (+prospects and picks) for Spezza where Ottawa retained 25% of Spezza's salary:

You could switch Ott with a cheaper FA center like Perrleaut in order to save between $1-2M and have some extra cap space to carry extras. |

Agreed regarding Stastny, Jan. Only way he fits this team is if Brassard gets shipped.
I would consider doing it. I think Stastny is a better player than Brassard and if he can get us a relatively inexpensive top-6 winger...maybe a guy like McGinn from Colorado...then I might be on board with it. I feel like in this situation, the overall team is better.
Also, in regards to the first roster I posted...I would be okay if we went with that roster and filled the 4LW spot with Jay McClement and the 3RW spot with a guy like Setoguchi. They could both be had for a combined $4.5-5M in a perfect world. |

They should just keep Carcillo if they're going to waste money on Glass. Ryan Jones or Moss are even better options. And Tom Gilbert would give them more offensively than Fayne. |

Tanner Glass... he was such a good... ummm. Well he really did this... ermmm.
He tried I think? |

He's also literally the slowest player in the entire league. Literally. |

That just puts him a few lines above the rest of the competition |

Will there be any players left to sign? Isn't Toronto the landing spot for all free agents during the free agency period? |

Lee Stemp I would say may not even be a full reclamation project. He looked good with the Pens, played both ways, battled for the puck on the boards, probably going to be a solid asset to whichever team lands him.
edit: when i don't skim, i realize you said about the same as me... I blame the face of EK on his blog... its so damn creepy. |

Yea, I thought Stemp was one of your most consistent and explosive forwards in the 2nd round. |

I really don't get why no talks of trying to keep him or Goc were made... Both aren't going to be pricey... Goc I think would merit a raise, Stemp might stay nearly the same. |

Pretty much... Seemed the lack of depth after that Dupuis injury during the season became glaring obvious when an AHL call up being hurt during that series (Gibbons) became a legit issue for the 1st line -_- |

Always liked Goc, they should look at him before overpaying for D. Moore. |

I'm ok with this. I remember a lot of people getting on Kreider's ass about that. Don't know if one is farther along then the other, but it didn't hurt Kreider. |
